Management of the Journal
The Journal of Sustainable Decisions Intelligence and Optimization (JSDIO) is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and ethical publishing. As an open-access journal, JSDIO aligns its organizational and operational practices with internationally recognized guidelines, including those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ), and the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA).
Overview
JSDIO's management encompasses strategic, editorial, operational, and financial dimensions essential to the ethical and sustainable functioning of the journal. These practices are designed to ensure editorial independence, financial transparency, responsible governance, and adherence to global standards of scholarly publishing.
Governance and Ownership
JSDIO is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published biannually by the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Andalas, Indonesia. The journal operates under a clearly defined governance structure that ensures editorial autonomy. The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board maintain full independence in all editorial decisions, free from influence by the publisher, sponsors, or institutional affiliations, in accordance with COPE's Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, including the originality, methodological rigor, clarity, relevance, and ethical soundness of submissions. JSDIO strictly prohibits any influence from financial, political, or personal interests. The journal adheres to COPE's Code of Conduct for Journal Editors, ensuring fair and unbiased peer review and editorial processes.
Financial Model
JSDIO operates under an open-access model, charging no Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission fees. This waiver applies for the journal development period of 2-3 years following the journal's official launch. During this initial phase, all publication costs—including plagiarism detection, grammar enhancement tools, DOI registration, and hosting—are fully supported by the Publisher. Financial considerations do not influence editorial decisions, in line with DOAJ's criteria for inclusion and OASPA's principles of transparency.
At the end of this post-launch period, the APC policy will be reviewed and updated based on sustainability, and operational needs. Any changes to the APC policy will be communicated transparently to authors well in advance.
Open Access
All published content is freely accessible under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license. This ensures that readers may share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given and derivative works are licensed under identical terms.
Editorial Board
The Editorial Board consists of scholars and practitioners with recognized expertise in industrial engineering, systems optimization, decision intelligence, and sustainability-related disciplines. Members are publicly listed with their institutional affiliations and serve voluntarily, except for publisher-affiliated staff who receive institutional support. Board composition reflects diversity in geography, gender, and academic background, in accordance with OASPA's recommendations on editorial diversity.
Operational Processes
JSDIO employs robust journal management software to facilitate efficient workflows for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial decision-making, copyediting, and publication. The journal follows COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers, ensuring confidentiality, objectivity, and timely review. All processes are documented and regularly reviewed for quality assurance.
Training and Ethics
Editorial team and staff receive training based on COPE's Core Practices, including guidance on handling ethical issues such as plagiarism, authorship disputes, data fabrication, and conflicts of interest. JSDIO promotes a culture of ethical awareness and continuous professional development.
Advertising Policy
JSDIO does not currently accept paid advertisements. Should advertising be introduced in the future, it will be clearly distinguished from editorial content and will not influence editorial decisions, in line with COPE's guidelines on journal advertising.
Archiving and Preservation
To ensure long-term accessibility and preservation of scholarly content, JSDIO will partners with recognized digital archiving services such as LOCKSS, Portico, or national repositories. This aligns with DOAJ's preservation standards and supports the journal's commitment to maintaining a permanent scholarly record.
Journal Metrics and Transparency
JSDIO publishes key performance indicators, including submission volumes, acceptance rates, average review timelines, and editorial decision statistics. These metrics are updated regularly to promote transparency and accountability, in accordance with COPE's and DOAJ's transparency principles.
